Restoration of Lytle Monument at Chickamauga

The shell monument in honor of Gen. William H. Lytle was erected at Chickamauga in 1884 and as late as 1936 it still had a pyramid of cannon shells like the other monuments. At some point the monument was cannibalized and many of the cannon shells were stolen.

The Lytle camp is teaming with the Friends of the Park to raise the funds to restor the monument to it's original condition as seen in this circa 1900 photo:.
